Hammy, Myles & Jamie Claim Awards
The Player of the Year awards for the 2008/09 season were evenly shared out at Meadow Lane last night.
Matt Hamshaw was confirmed as the Notts County fans Player of the Year, Myles Weston claimed the Managers Player of the Year and Jamie Clapham was named the Players' Player of the Season.
Hamshaw topped off an impressive first season with County by being named the Supporters Club's Player for the 2008/09 season. In second place was veteran defender Michael Johnson while left-back Jamie Clapham finished in third spot.
Weston was handed a glowing tribute from Manager Ian McParland for his displays down the left wing all season and Clapham was the players' choice for a consistent first season at Meadow Lane.
Alan Higgott claimed the annual Merit Award from the Supporters Club for all his hard work behind the scenes, who also made a special presentation to Michael Johnson.
The veteran defender is hanging up his boots at the end of the season and he was presented with a special award for his efforts with County.
All attendees were treated to a Sausage and Mash dinner before the awards ceremony took place.
Funds were also raised for the Centre of Excellence at Meadow Lane with Chairman John Armstrong-Holmes winning the auction for a signed and match-worn Michael Johnson shirt. His winning bid was £500.
