Ian McParland was once again left rueing missed chances after Notts County's 3-0 defeat at home to Dagenham & Redbridge.
As has been the case for many weeks, County started well and saw chances go begging before slipping to defeat.
In today's final home game of the season McParland was revealed his bitter disappointment at County's recent form after a run of five successive defeats.
"I've been disappointed for weeks to be honest," he said.
"I think the lads have been on holiday since the Bournemouth game, or even the Lincoln one (at the end of March).
"I've been saying for a while that there's always something to play for, in my case it is all about personal pride.
"We've created a lot of chances in recent games, not taken them and lost.
"It was a scrappy game today but we had three decent chances in the first half to score.
"Balls were bouncing about in their box and we simply didn't put the ball in the net."
Kevin Pilkington virtually had nothing to do in the first half other than pick the ball out of his net on two occasions before the break after stunning goals from Sam Saunders and Matt Ritchie.
He said: "Pilks didn't have a save to make and then their lad drifted in from the right and stuck one in the top corner.
"I was just waiting for one of our lads to win the ball or bring him down, but the ball ended up in the net.
"The second one was great as well but I've been on at the lads about turning their back on the ball before.
"Goals change games, I've said it before.
"How we can create so many chances in various games and not win is not right."
Michael Johnson turned out for the final time in County colours at Meadow Lane today prior to his retirement next week and McParland had a few kind words for his No.6
"Jonno was one of the young kids that came through and he will forever have an affinity with the club and it was a great reception from the fans when he came off late on," he said.
"Although he went away and played 500-plus games for Birmingham and Derby he will always be loved because he came through the ranks here.
"He can look back on a nice career and his job in the next few years will be to produce good young footballers from our youth team."
