John Thompson believes Notts County can put right their recent disappointing run of results at Meadow Lane on Saturday.
Struggling Chester City visit Meadow Lane this weekend after back-to-back away games for County during the last fortnight.
Notts picked up just one point from a run of three straight home games earlier in the month against Luton Town, Accrington Stanley and Gillingham.
That was after starting the New Year in terrific form at Meadow Lane by claiming four wins from a possible five.
And the County skipper is confident of getting back to winning ways on home turf against Chester who find themselves in the relegation zone approaching the later stages of the season.
"We felt confident going into the run of games at home this month but unfortunately we didn't get a win in any of them," said the Irishman.
"Despite that the lads are confident going into any home game right now.
"The big thing we wanted to achieve when I signed on a permanent basis in January was to turn Meadow Lane into something of a fortress.
"We have managed to do that lately despite this little blip we have suffered in the last month.
"If we perform like we have been doing in recent games then come Saturday against Chester we should be fine.
"We have proved at times what we're capable of and for one reason or another we've not achieved the playoff push we felt we could mount."
County currently occupy a mid-table berth in League Two and Thompson believes despite the playoffs being out of reach and relegation worries not an issue.
And he has made it clear that motivation should not be an issue for anyone in the squad.
"There is no motivation problem - certainly not from my point of view," he said.
"It is disappointing we're not pushing up towards the top but we owe it to the fans more than anything to do as well as we possibly can in the last six games.
"We will be doing that from here on in and it is important looking to next season that we finish on something of a high.
"If we let this season fizzle out it will be hard to get back up for next season and these games coming up are vitally important."
