Eddy Relishing Bournemouth Test

Posted on: Fri 20 Mar 2009

Mike Edwards believes Notts County's players should relish taking on in-form Bournemouth this weekend.

The Cherries have won four of their last five matches and have climbed away from the relegation zone under the leadership of new Manager Eddie Howe.

And the central defender can't wait to pit his wits against Howe's side that have scored nine goals in their last three games.

County haven't won in their last five games and are looking to return to winning ways in their first visit to Bournemouth since 2004.

Said Edwards: "They've been doing very well recently and have hit a terrific run of form.

"Right now they're flying and it's nice to go and play teams like that, although it will be very tough down there.

"You get the chance to pit your wits against in-form players and it will be a good test.

"That's what you want. You don't want easy games; you want tough ones like Gillingham in midweek and Bournemouth."

With just eight games left Edwards believes County must finish the season on a positive note and he has also targeted four wins from their final eight games in League Two.

"It would be nice to get as many points as possible from the eight games left," he explained.

"If we can win half of those it will ensure we finish the season on a high, which we want to do.

"We had a decent end to last season with two wins at home and a draw away, and that gave everyone a lift going into this season.

"It keeps the fans happy as well. They've been coming down and backing us as usual which is good and we want to give them a good send-off to the season with a few smiles on faces."
