McParland Delighted After Win
Ian McParland has hailed today's 1-0 victory at AFC Bournemouth as a 'great result'.
County's first away win of 2009 was secured thanks to Myles Weston's first-half goal.
Bournemouth had been in great form going into the game, but County put in one of their best away showings of the season to claim a deserved win.
"It's a great result," he said afterwards.
"We've kept a clean sheet too which is terrific.
"I'd take 1-0 away from home any day of the week.
"We made it hard for ourselves but we got there in the end.
"They then changed formation at half-time and we found it hard to get on the ball in the second half - but I'm happy with how things went.
"The lads battled hard and we played some really good football at times.
"I would have put my house on Jamie scoring when we got the penalty after taking the lead, but today he unfortunately didn't.
"He changed his side and the goalkeeper saved it."
Weston's fourth goal of the season was well taken and McParland was elated to see his wideman on the scoresheet.
He said: "Myles was a real threat as always and I'm pleased for him because he deserved a goal.
"I feel sorry for him at times because - like at Shrewsbury - he got took out early on and then got his shirt pulled and each time the player didn't get booked.
"It should be dealt with because people pay their money to see players like Myles Weston play."
McParland had praise for goalkeeper Kevin Pilkington who pulled off two terrific saves in the first five minutes which played a huge role in the victory.
"Pilks made two great saves in the first five minutes when we switched off," he said.
"After that I felt we were going to win today.
"As much as the win was secured by Myles' goal it was also won by Pilks' two saves that won us the game."
