Richard Butcher believes Notts County must learn from their mistakes and show the ability to bounce back from the defeat at Bury last Saturday.

County are to face promotion hopefuls Bradford City at Meadow Lane this weekend - where they won three of their last four games.

"We have to learn from our mistakes from Saturday's game," said Butcher.

"We have to try to do better next at home to Bradford.

"We're looking forward to the game already; Bradford are one of the bigger teams in the League and you look forward to playing in those games.

"Hopefully we can give them a good battle and get another home win on the board."

Reflecting on the defeat at Gigg Lane, Butcher felt the concession of goals at key moments during the game was Notts' downfall - as well as not being able to register enough efforts at goal.

He said: "We started well and we didn't get in front when we were on top.

"I felt the game was quite even and we conceded goals at bad times.

"We didn't get enough shots in and that's something we need to work on this week on the training pitch. We must learn from the mistakes we made."

Butcher made his first start since recovering from a fractured metatarsal in his left foot back in November in the defeat.

Despite feeling some discomfort he was delighted to return to action.

"My foot was a bit achy afterwards, but the specialist said it was to be expected," said the midfielder.

"Starting is very different to coming off the bench so I hope I can get another good week in training and start again next week to get back into the swing of things."
