Matt Hamshaw credited his excellent goal in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Barnet to his young one-year-old daughter Isabella after she played her part in the victory.

The winger opened the scoring just before the break with a well-placed lob and admitted afterwards he asked his daughter to 'rub some goals' on his new boots that he received earlier in the week.

He explained after the game: "I got a new pair of boots during the week and on Saturday morning my daughter Isabella picked them up off my bed.

"I said to her 'rub some goals on them for me' because she's only one - but she obviously knew what she was doing, so that goal is for her.

"I'll be giving her my boots every week after that one, believe me!"

Reflecting on his first goal at Meadow Lane he expressed his delight at seeing the opportunist effort float over the stranded Barnet goalkeeper Lee Harrison.

"It's always nice to see those efforts go in," he said.

"I found myself on that side after I took a corner, but as soon as the ball came to me I knew what I was going to do and it was all about getting the technique right.

"I felt we took our chances when we had them, and two good finishes got us the points.

"We were always comfortable but it was nice to get the second to see the game off because you never know what can happen at 1-0.

"I've said all along that I need to be scoring more goals, so hopefully that's a sign of what's to come."
