Pilkington Injury Boost

Posted on: Fri 23 Jan 2009

Notts County were today boosted with the positive news that goalkeeper Kevin Pilkington's medial ligament injury is not as bad as first feared.

Pilkington sustained the injury in the dying seconds of last Saturday's 1-1 draw at Brentford.

With Russell Hoult also sidelined the Magpies were left without a goalkeeper at the start of the week.

Scunthorpe's Josh Lillis bridged that gap by arriving on loan on Tuesday for a month, by which time Pilkington's scan results had been confirmed.

He is now expected to be out of action for around a month and is now walking without the aid of crutches.

He said: "The scan showed I had a bit of ligament damage, but no tear or serious damage which is good news.

"But it is still frustrating because I can't play football at the moment, which I made clear I was really enjoying.

"I'll be working as hard as I can on my rehab programme to make a return as soon as possible."
