Ian Gives His Verdict On Lincoln Defeat

Posted on: Tue 23 Dec 2008

Ian McParland admitted he would have to consult his DVD to see whether or not Lincoln City's winning goal should have stood this afternoon.

Goalkeeper Kevin Pilkington looked to have been fouled by Daniel Hone when claiming a cross into the Notts penalty area, but Referee Mr Webster thought otherwise and Adrian Patulea put the ball in the net to secure all three points for Peter Jackson's Imps.

McParland said afterwards: "I think the Referee made the game more difficult for us than Lincoln did.

"I'll need to look at the DVD to see if Pilks was fouled or not for the goal.

"The goal was against the run of play as well because were camped in their half for pretty much all the first-half, and these things happen when things aren't going so well for you.

"We will stick together though in the dressing room and as a Club."

McParland's men had the majority of the game and could have taken the lead before Patulea's strike just after the half-hour, with Matt Hamshaw and Myles Weston both going close.

And the Notts praised his players' efforts for putting in a committed display.

"People will have seen the game and seen us batter Lincoln; we had the best chance of the game for Matt Hamshaw and had numerous balls flying across the box," he said.

"The lads had a right go today and showed the fans they were getting stuck in, and on another day those chances go in for you."

Notts return to action on Boxing Day at Grismby Town, where they will be aiming to claim their third away win of the campaign and provide the Magpies faithful with some festive cheer.
