Ian McParland is confident he will get a reaction from his players when they make the trip to Chester City tomorrow afternoon.
McParland's Magpies bowed out of the FA Cup to Blue Square Premier side Kettering Town 2-1 in midweek - despite leading 1-0 at the break.
It was a defeat that hurt McParland deeply, and he is confident he will see a reaction from his side at the Deva Stadium.
A victory would proivde Notts with back-to-back League wins for the second time this season after last Saturday's 1-0 win over Morecame at Meadow Lane.
"I'm confident we will get a reaction from the players," said McParland.
"The last few weeks have been frustrating for me and the supporters, because we've had good performances followed by bad ones. I'm addressing that and we will get it right.
"It is all about how we recover from Kettering now, because Wednesday was so disappointing.
"We went there very confident off the back of a very good performance against Morecambe and a 1-0 win, but we didn't do enough in the second half and we were ultimately punished for poor defending."
With all his players fit with the exception of long-term casualties Richard Butcher and Adam Tann and on-loan Nat Wedderburn McParland is now looking to name a settled side over the next few weeks.
At the start of the season the Magpies' boss was able to do just that, but a bout of injuries since mid-October have resulted in him shuffling his pack far too often for his own liking.
"I'm looking for a settled team, without a doubt," he said.
"We had that at the start of the season and we were doing ok.
"Fair enough we weren't killing teams off, but the football was good in those first twelve or thirteen games.
"Even when we went behind we were looking like getting back into games, where as recently we've not looked like coming back once we've gone behind.
"That is a worry for me, and it something I'm looking to address and sort out.
"We will get to work on that training ground and sort it.
"The lads also need to get back to the mentality they had earlier in the season because the problem we have is mental, and not a football thing."
