Ian McParland has revealed that Scunthorpe United have opted to recall striker Jonathan Forte from his loan spell at Meadow Lane.

The young striker will return to Glanford Park in time for their home game with Northampton Town on Saturday.

Forte announced his arrival at Meadow Lane in outstanding fashion last month as he crashed home a first-half hat-trick in a 4-0 win at Barnet.

He followed that up with a goal in his next game against Dagenham & Redbridge, and went on to make two further appearances in Notts colours against Wycombe and Morecambe.

McParland admitted: "I spoke to Nigel Adkins (Scunthorpe Manager) today, who informed me that they will be invoking the clause in the loan arrangement to recall Jonathan after 28 days.

"It's a shame he couldn't have stayed with us longer because he was a good outlet for us with his pace, but we knew there was always a chance he could go back.

"I would like to thank Nigel for allowing him to temporarily team up with us, and we wish Jonathan all the best.

"He did well for us and his hat-trick at Barnet on his debut was a memory he can cherish from his time at Meadow Lane."
