Jimmy Sirrel Funeral Arrangements

Posted on: Mon 06 Oct 2008

Notts County supporters will get the chance to say a final farewell to legendary former manager Jimmy Sirrel on Tuesday (October 7) because his funeral cortege is to leave from Meadow Lane en-route to St Mary's Church in the Lace Market.

It will begin its journey at 12.40pm and will pause briefly on County Road - alongside the back of the Jimmy Sirrel Stand.

The funeral takes place at 1pm and six former players - Les Bradd, Dean Yates, Jon Nixon, Ian McParland, Iain McCulloch and Mick Leonard - will act as pall-bearers. The current squad of players will form a Guard of Honour at the entry to the church.

The Bishop of Sherwood, Rt Rev Tony Porter, will conduct the service and there will be tributes paid by Coin Slater and Howard Wilkinson and lessons read by Tony Cuthbert and John Mounteney.

The family have asked that those wanting to send flowers should direct them to AW Lymn, the funeral directors, at their Arnold office - St Albans House, High Street, Arnold.
