More than 200 players and parents gathered at Meadow Lane last night for an event that is viewed as the most important staged by the club for a long time.

The Player-Parent Induction Meeting in the 1862 Suite rubber-stamped the re-launch of the Centre as the players were handed their training and match kits and key elements of the programme were outlined.

Chairman John Armstrong-Holmes and Manager Ian McParland, along with Centre of Excellence Director Mick Leonard, addressed the meeting.

Mick said: "The turnout was amazing and it just shows how important the Centre of Excellence is to so many people.

"The meeting was essentially to make sure the parents are fully aware of the important roles they are required to play and also for the players to understand their responsibilities.

"We want to revive the spirit of old at the Centre and we want the kids to be proud of the fact they have been chosen to wear the black and white stripes of Notts County - even at a very young age."

As part of the re-launch every member of the Centre will be given a free season-ticket and they are expected to attend first-team matches at Meadow Lane. Heavily discounted tickets are also be available for the parents.
