Notts skipper Mike Edwards firmly believes the Magpies are ready for lift-off in League Two - and are just a win away from kick-starting their season.
With two draws and a defeat from their first two League fixtures this term the Magpies go into this weekend's home game with leaders Shrewsbury Town searching for their first three points of the campaign.
Edwards, who has named as Team Captain on the eve of the new season, believes getting the first goal will be crucial to Notts' chances of claiming all three points.
"We are waiting for lift-off in terms of getting that first win," he explained.
"In every game we've played so far this season in the League we've come off the pitch disappointed that we didn't win or get more out of those matches.
"We know it is coming though. We haven't gone ahead in a League game yet, so if we can get that first goal it will be a real confidence boost for us."
Paul Simpson's men lead the way at the top of League Two at this early stage, and despite their impressive looking squad Edwards is not struck down with fear by the leaders.
He said: "Shrewsbury have some big players, but we don't fear anyone in this division.
"We know if we stick by our jobs and believe in what we are doing and trying to achieve, as we have shown in our first three League games and against Doncaster in the Carling Cup, everything will come together.
"We're working hard to put things right on the pitch and we believe in what we are doing here and the way we are playing.
"As the cliché goes, it is a marathon not a sprint!
"We've obviously made a positive start from what we've been working on at the training ground and right through pre-season.
"We know ourselves going into that final third we need to be a little more clinical.
"The game is Shrewsbury is one we're looking forward to now, we've obviously been working on a few things over the last few days and we're not keen to have a crack at the leaders."
And having been handed a tough start by the fixture computer in the summer by taking on a number of the early-season promotion favourites already, Edwards feels there have been a lot of positives to draw despite not being able to net a League win just yet.
He said: "We've had a tough start and we've know that since the fixtures came out.
"We've competed well against these teams who have a lot of money and will be up there season and we have been unfortunate not to take more out of the games."
