Notts County have received reports that a handful of supporters were verbally abusive to the Darlington players and staff as they boarded the team coach after our last home game.

The situation is being treated as very serious and an investigation is currently underway to establish who was responsible.

Said Safety Officer John Dye: "Apparently there were only a few people involved but it's very important that all supporters understand that incidents of this kind can have very serious consequences.

"I would actually go as far as to say that the ground authorities can take The Kop away from us just as quickly as they gave it to us in the first place.

"We are being closely monitored and have to prove that we can manage our supporters. That means that there must be no incidents whatsoever of the type that has been alleged."

Notts are appealing for anyone who knows more about the incident, and can identify those involved, to do so in the strictest confidence by contacting John Dye at Meadow Lane.

Action will then be taken against the people concerned if appropriate.
