Notts County have today announced the arrival of Carl Muggleton as goalkeeping coach.

The 39-year-old former Leicester, Stoke, Chesterfield and Celtic goalkeeper will work with the Magpies' goalkeepers on a part-time basis after agreeing to join Ian McParland's backroom team.

Muggleton has served local rivals Mansfield Town for the past two seasons, and stepped up to the role of Player-Assistant Manager in the latter stages of last season at Field Mill.

With over 600 career appearances to his name Muggleton has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in professional football.

Manager McParland is delighted to have been able to secure the services of Muggleton, who he believes is a vital acquisition to his football staff.

He said: "We're delighted to welcome Carl on board. He has bags of experience and is an honest professional who has been looking to get into coaching goalkeepers.

"With the position vacant since Steve Cherry left us we spoke to Carl at length, and he was only too happy to join us and I'm sure all of our goalkeepers will enjoy working with him."

Muggleton, who turns 40 later this year, made his final appearance for Mansfield in April this year. His last clean sheet, ironically, was recorded in the Stags' goalless draw at Meadow Lane in March.
