County Clinch Record Shirt Deal

Posted on: Tue 08 Jul 2008

Notts County are doubling up this season with separate home and change shirt sponsors and the combined deal is the most lucrative in the club's long history.

Forward Pest Control will sponsor the new home kit while the name of Marston's Beer Company will appear on the front of the shirts for away matches.

The joint value is approaching six-figures and delighted Chairman John Armstrong-Holmes said: "It's a fantastic deal for us."

He added: "We are so grateful to Forward Pest Control and Marston's Beer Company for their support and Sally Brealey, our Commercial Director, has worked hard to pull together a deal that underlines the strength of this club's ambitions."

It will be an especially proud moment for lifelong fan Colin Lowton when Notts take the field for their first home game with Forward Pest Control very much in evidence.

Said the company's Managing Director: "The deal is a huge outlay for us but we are a business with big ambitions. We already cover the Midlands from east to west and feel that working within football is a good way of raising our profile.

"I've always been a County fan, even when I lived in London for 20 years, and I'm delighted to be supporting the club in this way. Deals of this kind do have to be based on sound business judgment but I'm satisfied it will help us to achieve our objectives.

"I'm hoping it will generate a lot of business for us, and I definitely want it to be the start of an on-going relationship that benefits us and the club."

Marston's have been the beer supplier at Meadow Lane since 2005 and the one-year away kit sponsorship arrangement is part of a new five-year deal that was recently agreed.

There's also an emotional link to this deal because Paul Hawksworth, Marston's Business Development Manager, also happens to be a big County fan.

He said: "Marston's are delighted to continue our relationship with Notts County. This improves Marston's sporting links that we have developed over the past few years in both football and cricket.

"It also displays Marston's commitment to a local community, in which I have worked for a number of years. Obviously this is a labour of love for me, being a County fan, and hopefully this deal will see success both on and off the pitch."
