Notts County have today announced their first pre-season friendly ahead of the 2008/09 campaign; with Premier League opposition set to visit Meadow Lane.
Stoke City, who claimed automatic promotion to the Premier League earlier in the month, will take on Ian McParland's side on Tuesday 29 July 2008, Kick-Off 7:45pm.
The Potters will be preparing for their first taste of Premier League football next term, and view their encounter at Meadow Lane as an important part of their preparations for life in the top flight.
The Magpies have good links with the Potters, who came to the Clubs' aid back in February when goalkeepers Kevin Pilkington and Tim Sandercombe were both injured. City boss Tony Pulis allowed experienced shot-stopper Russell Hoult to head to Meadow Lane on loan for the rest of the season, and he played a big role towards the end of the campaign in ensuring League status was secured with seven clean sheets in fourteen games.
Assistant Manager Dave Kevan commented: "We're delighted to be able to announe that Stoke City will be coming to Meadow Lane for a pre-season friendly in July.
"Tony Pulis and his staff have done a tremendous job at the Britannia Stadium to gain top-flight status, and it will be great for our fans to see us taking on Premiership opposition ahead of the new season.
"It will be a good test for us in the final stages of pre-season.
"We're also working on some other pre-season fixtures and the remainder of our plans are being put in place, and they be will be announced once they have been confirmed."
Pricing details for the Stoke City fixture will be announced in due course.
