Ian McParland cut the figure of a frustrated man making the long walk to face the press on Saturday evening, a figure that has become too familiar in recent weeks.
After a third home defeat running, McParland felt it was a case of 'same again' for his side as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Stockport.
Stephen Hunt had put Notts ahead but the visitors hit back to take the points and McParland felt, once again, his side shot themselves in the foot and defended badly.
"We did the same as we have when we've lost other games," said a frustrated McParland.
"We had a great start with a great set-play, and then once again we shot ourselves in the foot.
"The defending was bad and the goals were rubbish.
"The first goal we conceded was just lazy defending, and the second goal we went through what Stockport do for corners with the players, but two players didn't go out to close the man down and that was the reason behind them scoring that.
"If we had stopped the cross, we would have stopped the goal.
"Before you know it, from being 1-0 up we were 2-1 down."
After falling behind, Notts pushed hard for an equaliser and had the better of the chances in the second period with Felix Bastians on his debut and Neil MacKenzie hitting the woodwork.
"We created a few chances before half-time to get back in the game, and then in the second half we had a right go," he said.
"Felix Bastians hit the post with a great strike and a bit of opportunism from Neil MacKenzie saw him hit the bar, and there were a few balls flying across the box too.
"But you make your own luck and if you are hungry enough to get a goal when the ball is in their box, you'll get a goal if you are a goalscorer."
McParland felt his side were, especially in the first half, virtually a different team to the one that had performed so well on New Year's Day while the issue of the home form again popped up after a third straight defeat at Meadow Lane.
"If I could put my finger on it, I would sort it out because the home form is disappointing. It needs sorting, simple as that," he admitted.
"We looked like a different team to the one that did so well at Hereford, certainly in the first half.
"I am going to have to put my finger on it. It is frustrating for the fans, and myself. I am going to look at a few things over the next few days and have a good think."
