Austin McCann admitted after Tuesday night's loss to Peterborough United that the Notts County support was outstanding, and he believes the fans' support has lifted spirits and confidence in the camp ahead of Saturday's visit of Shrewsbury Town.

Prices for Saturday's game have been reduced to £10 for Adults and £5 for Concessions for the visit of the Shrews, while Under 11s accompanied are admitted free providing they purchase from the Ticket Office - and McCann is hoping fans take advantage of the offer and get behind the team once again this weekend.

Given the disappointing FA Cup defeat to Havant & Waterlooville only days earlier, McCann felt the numbers that turned out and the support given was superb on Tuesday in the 1-0 loss to Peterborough United - Notts' fourth in a row - but McCann feels the fans have a big role to play as Notts look to get back to winning ways this weekend.

"The fans stuck with us on Tuesday which was brilliant," said the Scot, who started his first game in a month-and-a-half on Tuesday.

"I hope they turn out on Saturday again and stick with us, it was just a shame we couldn't get the result they deserved.

"They knew we gave it a real go against a really good Peterborough side; they saw that and stuck behind us. To be fair we wouldn't expect anything different from them.

"The encouragement we got at half-time and full-time when we came off the pitch can only give us more confidence, and the more confident we are the more likely we are to get a result against Shrewsbury on Saturday."

Manager Ian McParland described his players as warriors afterwards and was pleased with the application of the squad - and McCann admits the Manager has stressed to the squad to focus on the positives of Tuesday's game.

He said: "I wouldn't say the Manager was pleased, but he was certainly encouraged with the performance on Tuesday.

"He, along with the rest of the staff, is working really hard on keeping the spirits high within the camp.

"We have to remain that way ahead of Saturday, because we have another home game and it is another really big and important match.

"Certainly yes it was a better performance, but we know at the end of the day it is the points what matter.

"It is important that we take the positives out of the defeat on Tuesday, and I think the performance was really encouraging and we can take that into Saturday for sure.

"Saturday is really important, and the Manager came into the dressing room after Tuesday and he was really upbeat and positive - so it is important we adopt that attitude too like I said."
