England Put On A Show
An impressive-looking England U-19 side saw of their Belarus counterparts 4-0 with an exciting and eye-catching performance at Meadow Lane on Tuesday evening, before an excellent crowd of 4,266.
England's youngsters, who are gearing up for their European Qualification games later this year, were out of the blocks very quickly and steamed into a 3-0 lead within twenty minutes.
Fabian Brandy of Manchester United started the ball rolling with a composed finish, and his effort was added to from close range at the second attempt by Newcastle striker Andy Carroll.
Chelsea's Lee Sawyer smashed home from inside the box to make it 3-0 within twenty minutes, but despite a hold-up in goals until the second period there was bags of entertainment to keep the carnival-like supporters glued to the action.
Bolton's Tope Obadeyi slotted home the fourth on the hour to round off the scoring, with the only sour moment for England being the dismissal of Sawyer with twenty minutes to go for a high lunge with two feet which saw a straight red card produced.
Despite that, England still looked the more dominant of the two teams, leaving the superb support to give both sets of teams a standing ovation at the end of the game.
The support and reaction of the crowd was first class all night, once again showing Nottingham and Meadow Lane is fit to stage International matches - hopefully it won't be too long until the Three Lions at back at Meadow Lane once again.
