Mike Edwards explains to James Pallatt that he is keen to put pen-to-paper on a new contract at Meadow Lane, after a hectic few weeks since the end of the season.
Edwards underwent a routine operation to have a metal plate removed from his right leg which he fractured last summer, while his wife Kirsty is heavily pregnant with their second child.

Notts County's Mike Edwards was today going under the knife to have a metal plate removed from his leg.
And then he has revealed he will sort out his future at Meadow Lane.
The 28-year-old defender was one of just two players offered a new deal at the end of last season, alongside keeper Kevin Pilkington.
Pilkington will sign a new two-year deal with the club when he returns from holiday next week.
And Edwards is almost ready to do the same, following initial talks with boss Ian McParland.
But he admits he has been focusing all his attention on his heavily-pregnant wife since the end of the season.
And now he wants to have his operation before he puts pen to paper.
He insists he will be fit and ready for pre-season training at the start of July.
Edwards had the metal plate inserted into his leg after suffering a horrific injury in a pre-season friendly at St Blazey last July.
He dislocated his right ankle and fractured both bones in his lower leg.
It kept him out of action for five months, before he made his comeback at Morecambe at the end of January.
His signature would be a massive boost for McParland, following the capture of his defensive partner Michael Johnson on a one-year deal.
Edwards said: "It has been manic for me since the end of the season, with my wife being pregnant, so I have had other things to worry about.
"I've also just got back from holiday and now having my operation.
"I will probably only be in hospital overnight.
"I want to get the operation out of the way before I sit down with the gaffer again."
