Mascots: Yeovil Town

Posted on: Thu 09 Sep 2010

Nine-year-old Riley Cliff was one of four mascots for the 100 Years at Meadow Lane celebrations.

He got to enjoy a day behind the scenes at the club and lead the players onto the pitch for the match against Yeovil Town.

Riley, from Kegworth, was given the mascot package as a gift and described his day as 'amazing'.

And he would love to take up the package again, explaining that he'd like to lead the players onto field of play again, only with another one of his favourite players.

He might have the chance to do so as well, as he has been entered into a draw to be a mascot on the final day of the season.

Another mascot that goes into the draw is Tom Busuttil, 12, who was another to enjoy the day, saying that he loved meeting the players and getting their autographs.

He mother, Kathryn, said: "Thanks for a fab day. We all enjoyed it and had a great time!"

Calum Voce was also a mascot on the day and his mother, Deborah, contacted the club to say what a wonderful day he had.

She said: "It was a huge surprise for his birthday the week before and he knew nothing about it until an hour before arriving!

"Everyone was friendly and although obviously enjoying all the celebrations of the day, couldn't do enough for us to make our day special.

"A particular thank you has to go to Lee Hughes, Calum's favourite player.

"When he was asked who his favourite player was before going into the dressing room, he didn't hesitate to say 'Hughsey!'

"Lee was so nice with him, leading him around, shaking hands and having a kickabout, talking all the time to him, especially about the messing about with Mike Edwards in the dressing room while they were having their photo taken!"
