Manager Steve Thompson brought in Gary Silk, Lee Cannoville, Spencer Weir-Daley and Hector Sam all played their part in gaining the first point away at Grimsby Town.
However it was new signing Neil MacKenzie that scored the first goal of the season.
The result was followed by two more draws.
Notts crashed out of the League Cup and JPT and they finally managed their first league win when they played Dagenham & Redbridge at Meadow Lane.
MacKenzie was the hero again. This time coming off the subs bench and slamming the ball into the net with five minutes to go.
By the end of the month the Magpies claimed there second win with Stephen Hunt scoring against Chesterfield infront of nearly 6-thousand fans.

This was the final win by Thompson who was later sacked and former striker Ian "Charlie" McParland was put in charge in October.
His first match was against Mansfield Town at Field Mill and sadly his job got even harder after the 90 minutes.
Notts fell to their fourth consecutive defeat and sat three points from the bottom of the football league.
A week later Charlie did gain his first three points. Weir-Daley opened the scoring before Wrexham equalised. However MacKenzie had different ideas as he scored another dramatic late goal for a 2-1 win.
The team made it back-to-back wins when they visited Accrington Stanley. On loan striker Craig Lindfield scored first before Lawrie Dudfield made it two with three minutes to go.
The Magpies moved up to a more respectable mid-table.
Notts continued to struggle, only winning two more matches that year. They were also embarrassed in the FA Cup and on Match of the Day when the side lost to Havant & Waterlooville 1-0.
The club went onto win five more matches 1-0. However the most crucial was at home against Wycombe. The win confirmed League Two status for Notts.
Fans were allowed to sit in the Kop and thousands moved from the Z-Block in the Jimmy Sirrel stand to the Kop and created a fantastic atmosphere.

The atmosphere witnessed midfielder Richard Butcher scoring the only goal and celebrating infront of the Kop.
Over 7-thousand fans witnessed the famous win, three thousand in the Kop. Notts were safe.
Position: 21st in League Two.
Top scorer: Richard Butcher scored 12 goals in the league.
