Notts County youth team head into their FA Youth Cup encounter with Peterborough United full of confidence, after a 3-1 triumph over Lincoln City.
The Under-18s went a goal down against the Imps but a hat-trick from trialist frontman Colby Bishop secured three points.
Academy manager Mick Leonard was pleased with the young Magpies’ performance and hopes they can transfer it into Tuesday night’s first round fixture with the Posh (7pm kick-off at Meadow Lane).
He told the official site: “It was a very pleasing performance and we deserved the win.
“We tried a different approach on Saturday after it paid dividends in the comeback against Rotherham the week before.
“We pressed early and won the ball back early, which then allowed us to play.
“The hard work and the desire to close down and harry defenders forced mistakes and got us possession in the final third.
“That hard work is not just an extra – it’s a minimum requirement and if they’ve done it once, they should be able to do it again.
“The boys should be buzzing because they know themselves when they’ve put in a good performance and they need to play like that again against Peterborough.
“It will be a nice cold, crisp evening - proper football weather – and they should be dying to get out there under the floodlights.
“They’ve got to be prepared to work and graft again, but brave part is getting on the ball and passing, which we can’t do that without the ball.”
