Youth Team Beat Bradford City In Five Goal Thriller

10 November 2014

The club’s Youth Team beat City 3-2 on Saturday…

A wonderful Ben Browne strike gave Notts the perfect start, before Bradford equalised shortly after.

Notts reacted quickly and went ahead again through striker Colby Bishop’s penalty, but were again pegged back to 2-2 by the visitors before the interval.

The Magpies winner came with 15-minutes to go, with a well worked set-piece being headed home powerfully by centre half Rhys Myers.

Head of Academy Coaching Mick Halsall told the Official Site: “It was a really tough game in difficult conditions, but we showed great character to come back three times.

“Bradford are on the league’s better sides, but we competed well against a physical unit and earnt the important win.

“They were strong and direct and asked us questions, but we stood up to them really well.

“The lads attitude and desire to work shone through. They will always give 100%.

“We are still looking for that bit more quality and concentration levels and making the right decisions, but it’s a learning curve.

The victory will give the squad plenty of confidence ahead of Wednesday’s FA Youth Cup match at London Road against Peterborough United.
