Work In Progress

30 July 2012

Keith Curle will continue his chase for fresh talent from the Magpies’ training camp in Spain.

Keith Curle will continue his chase for fresh talent from the Magpies’ training camp in Spain.

Curle has been hard at work this summer bringing in new players to help the team’s push for promotion to the Championship in 2012.13.

On Sunday morning the squad jetted off to Malaga, where they will step up the pre-season training, as well as take part in two friendly matches.

Tuesday will see Notts travel to Gibraltar, ahead of a Thursday evening clash with UD Marbella.

Around the sessions the first team manager not had much time to relax, due to his regular talks with potential signings.

“It’s work in progress, myself and Jim have been speaking to the players and their representatives,” he told Magpie Player.

“It’s ongoing but unfortunately nowadays it doesn’t happen that you ring a player and the player says ‘yes’ and it’s done within 24 hours.

“Players have got options, players have got agents and obviously we’ve got budgets and guidelines that we’ve got to work to.

“I do a lot of work on my phone throughout the summer – it’s never off, it’s on 24 hours a day.

“I speak to a lot of agents and make a few enquiries myself to find out not only if the player is good enough ability-wise, sometimes it’s about character as well.

“There’s an atmosphere in and around the football club that I want to build on.

“I don’t want anybody that’s going to be disruptive or not be able to improve with their own personality.

“The players have got to be of the right mentality to join the group.”
