Striker Tyrell Waite will not make the same mistakes as last pre-season after realising just what it takes to be a professional footballer.
2012.13 marked Waite's first full campaign as a Notts County player, having signed from non-league Ilkeston FC the previous term.
The 18-year-old admits that he returned from his summer break out of shape but he is determined to come back much stronger this time around.
"I don't want to come back like last year and put myself on a bit of a downer and work to get myself back into the side," he told Magpie Player.
"Last year I came back off holiday slacking and came back to pre-season not where I wanted to be or should have been.
"It was my first proper pre-season and I didn't think it'd be as hard as it would be.
"It's a professional game and managers take that seriously so I thought next year I can't be doing the same thing.
"I want to come back sharp, ready and in shape and hopefully get a place in the side."
Waite agreed a new two-year deal at Meadow Lane last week and you can view his full reaction on Magpie Player by clicking here.
