Throwback Thursday: Jimmy And Jack

25 September 2014

Each week we delve into the club's archives, today we feature Notts legends Jimmy Sirrel and Jack Wheeler...

This week we feature two of the club's greatest ever staff members, Manager Jimmy Sirrel and his loyal trainer Jack Wheeler.

The pair incredibly oversaw and took Notts from the bottom tier of the Football League, to the top flight during the 70s and 80s.

Today marks the sixth anniversary since Sirrel passed, but he will always be remembered with fans singing his name from the terraces regularly, a place in the Hall of Fame and with a stand named in his honour at Meadow Lane.

Meanwhile Jack isn't forgotten with the main hospitality suite being named the Wheelers Suite as a dedication to his fantastic service to the club.

Thousands of Notts fans are in the process of contributing to the Jimmy and Jack Statue Fund, which currently is on the final push, standing at around £64,000.

Join the conversation on the club's Facebook and Twitter pages as we ask for your memories of the pair.

The club would like to thank Bowles Associates, JMS Photography, Action Images, Dan Westwell and the Nottingham Post for supporting the NCFC History archives.

Look out for more classic photographs every Thursday.
