Garry Thompson believes that the three points was the most important thing, despite scoring his first ever career hatrick…
The former Bradford City man scored three goals as Notts beat Crawley Town 5-3 on Saturday.
The win moves Notts up to sixth and increased their unbeaten run to nine, the winger is now hoping Notts can stay around the playoff positions.
He told Magpie Player: “I’ve played up top before and it was one of those games where I touched everything and it went in.
“It’s my first hatrick, so I’m absolutely delighted. The most important thing is the three points, the unbeaten run and pushing on up the table.
“We started the game really well and we want to stay among the top six now.
“We want to make this place a fortress and I think we are making strides to do that.
“My third was crucial. We took our foot off the gas and that was unprofessional and they punished us.
“I managed to head it in and it’s turned it back into our favour.
“I hope they give it to Gary (Jones) with the fifth. He’s enthusiastic as anyone and he works tirelessly for the team.
“I knew I had to put in a performance in and it’s great to take home the match ball.
“I’m going to have move the wife out the bedroom tonight, so it can sleep next to me!
“It’s something that I will cherish forever.”
