Halsall: Focussing On Our Own Game

21 November 2014

The Magpies are back in action this weekend…

The Youth Team face Grimsby Town at home, after a weekend off last Saturday with the Mansfield Town pitch being deemed not fit for purpose due to the weather.

The postponement left Head of Academy Coaching Mick Halsall frustrated, as he wanted to see an immediate backlash from the FA Youth Cup exit to Peterborough.

He told the Official Site: "It would have been nice to play and get the blues out of the players after how they felt after the Posh loss.

"The structure of the league means that we aren't really getting a run together. There have been a lot of changes to the schedule and now the winter weather is upon us. It would be nice to get a run of games together and we've not really had that this season.

"It would be good to get a game under our belt. We've not decided the starting eleven, so the shirts are up for grabs.

"Town will be big and strong, like a lot of the teams in this division. We just need to focus on ourselves and hopefully impose our game onto them.

"We will be looking to get a win, a result and gain more confidence ahead of our trip to Hull City."

The team are set to be without captain Jordan Richard, Rhys Myers and Kieran Duncan due to injury, so a number of Under 16s could feature again.
