GCSE Results bring new futsal students to Meadow Lane, will you be one of them?
Today will see thousands of 16 year olds in Nottingham collect their well-earned GCSE results? Football in the Community have limited spaces still available on their post-16 education programme that combines the learner gaining a BTEC in Sport whilst playing in the Football League Trusts Futsal League.
Past cohorts have gone on to represent Notts County FC on Soccer AM in the Soccer AM Cup, with Notts County making through to the Quarter Finals in 2014.
Past students have gone onto University or become an Apprentice Coach for Notts County FC Football in the Community, like current Apprentice Coach Dylan Harris-Newton, aka Neymar who also plays in the England’s under 21 Futsal squad.
After his two years studying on the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma Dylan said:
"The two years were a brilliant experience for me and I highly recommend the course for those at the appropriate age who are interested in sport, particularly football.You can give yourself lots of options to choose from within the sport industry upon completing this course, such as: apprenticeships, full time jobs and the chance to study sport at university."
"The most enjoyable part of the course for me, as a big lover of playing football and futsal, was the training and the matches in the futsal league. We put together a great squad and improved our abilities hugely over the two years, eventually managing to be competitive against the better clubs. Futsal is a highly-skilful sport which massively improves your technical ability with a ball. I found myself being comfortable with the ball in tight areas and had no problems receiving the ball under pressure. You only realise the positive effects futsal has on your ability when you go back and play an 11-a-side match and realise how much time and space you have, and how much better you ball control is."
