Striker Ronan Murray Off The Mark And Looking To Add More

22 August 2014

Striker Ronan Murray opened his goalscoring account with a classy finish in Tuesday night's victory over Colchester United...

The 22-year-old recently signed a contact extension at Meadow Lane after Manager Shaun Derry put faith in him last season.

The Irishman was delighted to get amongst the goals so early in the season and he hopes to add more this weekend with his strike partner Jake Cassidy.

He told Magpie Player: "It was good to get off the mark in the first few games of the season and hopefully I can roll on now.

"It's important to get an early one, hopefully I can continue.

"I'm learning everyday and every game with Jake, but the link is building and we will get their in the end.

"It will take time and there's a number of new players so we are all bedding in. It's a totally new team and we all have to be patient.

"It's all about team chemistry, but the Gaffer has done a great job to get the right characters in.

"Tuesday was the first taster of that character and it shone through, hopefully we can dig in again this weekend.

"There's a big pitch at Port Vale and we will go with a game plan and hopefully come away with a good result."
