McLaughlin: Lately Things Haven't Been Dropping For Us

27 December 2014

On-loan midfielder Stephen McLaughlin felt that Notts County were unlucky not to get something from the game against MK Dons on Friday.

McLaughlin, making the penultimate appearance of his current loan spell, felt that Notts were always in the game and just lacked that little bit of luck to get on the scoresheet.

The midfielder told Magpie Player after the game: “It wasn’t to be, but we said to ourselves we’d stay in the game as long as possible because we always do create chances and tonight we did create chances, we just couldn’t get the ball in the net.

“I thought in the second half, bar hitting the post they didn’t really come at us that much and we’re very disappointed that we didn’t get something from the game.

“We changed the formation and I thought that, making them kick long, it helped us and we started winning the majority of the ball and they didn’t fancy it when they had to kick it long and that helped us.”

After a dramatic 2-2 draw with Rochdale last weekend, the tempo of games has been incredibly high of late, but McLaughlin feels that this suits Notts, adding: “From start to finish they’ve been hectic and that’s the way we like playing games, we like getting in their faces, trying to win the ball and getting their side of the field to create chances.

“But lately things haven’t been dropping for us and hopefully Sunday things start dropping for us and we’ll start getting things from games.”
