Throwback Thursday: Stefan Oakes’ Long Ranger

9 April 2015

The Media Team delve into the club’s archives…

In March 2005 Notts were given a huge boost to their survival chances by beating Yeovil Town 3-1 at Huish Park.

The Magpies surprised the league leaders with midfielder Stefan Oakes scoring from his own half to put Notts ahead.

Notts grabbed their second through striker Glynn Hurst, before his strike partner Mark Stallard scored the third.

Town did grab a consolation through Paul Jevons’ penalty, but Notts claimed an important three points

Magpie Player subscribers can watch Oakes’ incredible goal here.

Join the conversation on the club’s social media accounts. Was Oakes’ goal better than David Beckham’s and Charlie Adam’s efforts? Were you there at Yeovil that night? Let us know!

The club would like to thank Bowles Associates, JMS Photography, Action Images, Dan Westwell and the Nottingham Post for supporting the NCFC History archives.

Look out for more classic photographs every Thursday.
