The Notts County players have every belief of completing The Great Escape, says skipper Alan Sheehan.
A perfect week, which included wins over Carlisle United, Crewe Alexandra and Colchester United, lifted Notts out of the bottom four and provided hope of Sky Bet League 1 football in 2014.15.
Supporters picked up their Great Escape posters and sang along to the famous movie’s theme song, which spurred their team onto the nine-point week.
Sheehan has been impressed by the campaign and is pleased to see the feel-good factor back at Meadow Lane.
“It’s brilliant, credit where credit’s due because I think it’s fitting,” he said.
“We honestly do believe in The Great Escape, the manager’s been saying it for weeks that we’re a team, we’re together and the belief is there.
“A lot of people might have lost that a couple of weeks and there might have been doubt in a few people’s minds before the week we’ve just had.
“We’ve not achieved anything yet but it was a good week and we’re right back in the mix now.”
Sheehan now hopes to keep up the momentum when the Magpies take on second-placed Brentford at Griffin Park.
He continued: “They’re a big team and they’ve spent a lot of money and they’re pushing for the Championship - rightly so because they’re a top team in the division.
“We’ve got to go there and show them the respect they deserve but at the same time we’ve got to have a go ourselves, because we’ve got nothing to lose at this time.”
