Sheehan Set For Milestone Appearance

14 February 2014

“Where does the time go? I feel old!”

This was Alan Sheehan’s response when asked about his potential 100th Notts County league appearance as the team prepare to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.

Sheehan has been a consistent figure in the Magpies line-up since signing for the club in 2011 and has produced arguably his best form this term at both left-back and, more recently, centre-back.

The stand-in skipper and longest serving senior player was shocked to learn that he was heading into a milestone league appearance at Molineux but is determined to mark it with an upset.

“To cap off the 100th league game with three points would be brilliant,” he told Magpie Player.

“If I could nick another goal, sound, but as long as we get the three points - that’s very important.”

He added: “Nobody’s really expecting us to get much from the game because they’re a good team who are up at the top.

“It’s important that we go there and be compact and play with the freedom that we’ve got nothing to lose.”

Notts have 15 games to secure a place in Sky Bet League 1 for the new campaign and there is an urgency to get to the 50-point mark as quickly as possible.

“It does hit home, people can say ‘nobody’s panicking’ but i don’t think we are panicking,” said Sheehan.

“15 games, there’s 45 points to play for and I think we’ve got to aim to get a good few points because we’ve played a lot more games than a few teams around us.

“It’s going to be tight at the end but we’ve got the team to stay up, no doubt.”

Fans are reminded that the Notts V Wolves fixture is ALL TICKET and seats must be booked by 4pm on Friday 14 February.
