Seven Wins From Eight For Notts Youth Team

16 November 2015

Dan Leivers’ Notts youth team made it a magnificent seven wins out of eight in all competitions with a 3-2 win at Chesterfield on Saturday.

With Tuesday evening’s FA Youth Cup tie with Rochdale looming large, goals from Tamar Clayton-Naute, Jordon Richards and Harry Bugg were enough to stop a home side unbeaten in their previous six games.

Clayton-Naute’s penalty on 28 minutes came after he had had been upended himself as he burst into the box. It was enough to give Notts a slender 1-0 lead at half-time.

The margin was doubled on the hour mark as Jordon Richards rose highest at a Dominic Brownhill corner to head home powerfully.

It almost proved to be a tense final 10 minutes of the game as Chesterfield pulled a goal back, with the home forward on hand in the middle to divert a low cross past Searson-Smithard in the Notts goal.

However another Brownhill corner just minutes later was bundled across the line by Bugg to restore the two-goal cushion.

The hosts would grab one more before full-time, another cross down the left flicked across the goalkeeper but it was merely a consolation with the full-time whistle blowing shortly after.

Attentions now turn to Meadow Lane and the visit of Rochdale tomorrow evening in the second round of the FA Youth Cup. The game kicks off at 7pm with tickets priced at £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.
