Seven In A Row For Notts County U18s

24 February 2014

Notts County youth team made it seven league wins on the bounce after they fought back from two goals down to beat Hartlepool United youth team.

Against a strong wind, the Magpies were two goals down at the interval but staged a second half fightback to secure maximum points.

Free-scoring striker Colby Bishop struck twice and defender Brad McGowan added another to make it 3-2 at the final whistle.

Head of Academy coaching Andy McMillan said: “It’s pleasing to keep the run going with another three points but it was difficult game in difficult conditions with the wind blowing straight down the pitch.

“We said to the lads at half time that it wasn’t over but we needed to be better on the ball – the way we are in training.

“In the second half we scored three good goals and it was a decent performance.

“The confidence is there and we were confident that we could still win the game at 2-0 down.

“We’ve ground out a result but I still want better out of them.”

He continued: “The win took us above Hartlepool and we’re aiming for third.

“First and second is a little bit out of our reach but we’ll keep trying.

“We don’t get anything for winning the Youth Alliance, it’s a case of producing players and that’s my job.”
