Saint Raymond: Always Special To Be At The Lane

31 October 2014

The club were delighted to welcome highly talented musician Saint Raymond to Meadow Lane last week and give him a behind the scenes tour...

The lifelong fan is currently on tour with Ed Sheeran, but woke up ahead of his Nottingham Arena gig especially to come down bright and early to the stadium.

The up and coming has found fame with plenty of promotion of the industry’s big hitters. iTunes named Fall At Your Feet as their single of the week, meanwhile BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe have also promoted his latest singles.

The singer-songwriter was born in Bramcote and has been supporting Notts ever since he was brought down as a youngster.

Sadly with a European tour he hasn’t been able to watch the Magpies much this season, but keeps up to date with all the goings on online.

He told The Mag: “I’ve been coming here all my life, so 19-years, so it’s nice to see it not on a matchday and from a different side. I appreciate being given this access.

“It’s great to be back home and play in my hometown, it’s always special and getting to come to Meadow Lane when I can. It’s special.

“It’s a great time to be a musician in Nottingham, there’s a real buzz about the city. People are starting to take the city serious after ignoring us with Leeds and Manchester.

“And it’s exciting on the pitch too. We are flying aren’t we! It’s an exciting year. I had no expectations after last year, but now, with this run we are on, you never know. Dare I say playoffs!

“I’ve got plenty of memories over the years. The last game of the season when Baudet scored that penalty stands out against Bury, I was here at the front of the Family Stand when Sven was unveiled and that was surreal! Just as a Notts fan you’ve experienced a lot of things that most football fans haven’t.

“It’s always a whirlwind, but there’s some great memories.”

Raymond is finishing his tour in the UK and then heading to Europe. He was given a tour by Commercial Director Damian Irvine.

His music hasn’t gone unnoticed either in the Notts dressing room with the likes of Jimmy Spencer and Stephen McLaughlin going to see him live in concert.

Log onto Magpie Player via the Official Site to see what he got up to at Meadow Lane and make sure you log onto the club’s YouTube account to see Irvine and Raymond give a very special rendition of the Wheelbarrow song on the pitch!
