Ricardo Moniz: "We have to lift spirits"

9 November 2015

Notts manager Ricardo Moniz spoke to local media after their 2-0 defeat at Salford City.

He admits that Salford were the better side in this meeting.

"They wanted it more, they deserved to win. We can't blame the pitch, they also had that pitch. They were better and that is unexplainable. From the first half you could see that our players did not have the strength against the ball and mentally we were very weak."

Moniz commended Salford's Richie Allen on his goal.

"The skill in the second goal was exceptional. Within seconds after half time, the ball was already in the net, so there's the difference between talking and doing."

When asked about how he and the team will move forward from this result, Moniz insisted that they will push on.

"There's always responsibilities on the coach. We will not forget this evening. We will criticise and analyse each other. I will try to create more proactivity. That's a big worry for the future."

"I always feel pressure. In this game, you lose a lot of credit. That's normal. On the other hand, I keep going. I analyse the situation and I take responsibility."

He talks about the disappointment of the fans after this defeat.

"The biggest disappointment is to let people down. That's the worst thing. We are proud that we have followers. We let them down, and that is something that you can't repair."

Despite losing at Moor Lane, Moniz remains positive that Notts can return to the recent unbeaten streak and looks to raise team moral in time for their clash with Northampton.

"We thought after Portsmouth that we were over a hill. We were unbeaten four times in difficult games. We trained very hard. We were very focused. We always have to lift spirits"
