Moniz: We Must Create More Chances For The Supporters

22 July 2015

Manager Ricardo Moniz is looking for more of a cutting edge in the remaining pre-season matches…

The Magpies lost 2-1 to Port Vale on Tuesday night, going ahead thanks to a goal from striker Jon Stead, but the League One side rallied late on to give Notts their first taste of defeat this summer.

Manager Ricardo Moniz was full of mixed emotions. He praised his side’s work ethic for the first hour, but was bitterly disappointed to concede twice in the final third of the match.

He told Magpie Player: “The performance wasn’t good. We lost and it was totally unnecessary. The second choice must be first choice.

“The players underestimated themselves, everyone should press. It’s a simple thing and make them play it backwards. And we didn’t do it. We must be leaders.

“The first goal from the corner, and the second, was disappointing.

“It was a good test and we worked well in the first 60-minutes.

“We still aren’t creating enough. We can’t press everywhere on the pitch, when we did it, we got the ball back. There was good phases, it was impressive, but we must create more scoring chances and the fans will want to see that.

“We aren’t critical, we aren’t far off. We will try to put it right on the training ground. The players must play it simple.

“But to do the simple things perfect, we must have time and we have three weeks before we start.”
