Keith’s Cycling Diary: Day 1: The Start Of The Journey

23 June 2015

Notts rider Keith Stewart writes for the club’s Official Site on his epic trip from Nottingham to Amsterdam raising money for Prostate Cancer in the Football League event…

The first stage of day one was to cycling from Nottingham to Leicester, first of all calling at the holy ground, Meadow Lane and then heading towards Leicester’s King Power Stadium via Keyworth.

From there, it was through all the small village towns towards Mountsorrel, Ansley and finally visited the King Power Stadium.

I’d like to thank a gentlemen named Jim for letting me fill up my water bottles before heading off to the next stop.

The majority of this route to Mountsorrel was familiar, as I had cycled these roads before with Sherwood CC.

Stage two of day one took me from Leicester’s King Power Stadium toward Coventry’s Ricoh Arena via small villages and towns, with some very picturesque scenery to see.

The final stage of today had me cycling towards a moderate wind across high ground towards Northampton Town’s Sixfields Stadium; There was some awesome views and scenery on this route but the wind took it’s toll on me during the last seven-10 miles and found it extremely difficult, with me also feeling a little dehydrated.

After visiting the Sixfields Stadium I headed off to the local Premier Inn for a well deserved shower and something to eat – and then headed for an early night.
