Club Issues Manager Search Update

31 March 2015

The club have concluded negotiations with Ricardo Moniz over the vacant Manager's position at Meadow Lane...

Notts County can confirm that the club have held lengthy negotiations with Ricardo Moniz about becoming First Team Manager, but that due to unforeseen family reasons, the Dutchman has been unable to commit to the role.

Chairman Ray Trew had been in in-depth discussions with Moniz and his representative in recent days and had agreed a package that was suitable for both parties.

However, shortly before heading to England to complete the deal, Moniz was forced to attend to family matters in his home country that meant he was unable to commit to becoming the club’s new Manager.

Notts would like to thank Ricardo for the time that he gave in discussing the position and have nothing but admiration for the ability that he possesses and what we felt he would bring to the role.

However, with two important fixtures coming up over the Easter weekend, it was agreed by both parties that negotiations would be concluded and Notts would continue their search for a new First Team Manager.

Mr Trew reaffirmed that Moniz represented the style of exciting, attacking coach that he was interested in bringing to Meadow Lane, but insisted that he would not rule anyone out in his search to find the right man to take the club forwards.

“I am obviously bitterly disappointed that we couldn’t finalise the deal for Ricardo because I saw in him something that I felt would give the club a real lift and would excite our supporters.

“However, I fully understand and respect his decision to put his family first after the sudden change in his circumstances and I wish him all the very best for the future,” he added.

“Whilst this is a setback, it hasn’t diminished in the slightest my enthusiasm for bringing in the right Manager and I am now looking forward to continuing negotiations with some of the other candidates who we have been talking to in recent days.”

The club will now be concentrating on this weekend’s Sky Bet League 1 games, with a pre-match media session to be held on Thursday to preview both fixtures.
