Notts County Players Deliver Christmas Cheer

23 December 2014

Notts County’s players visited the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham on Monday afternoon to deliver selection boxes and toys that had been donated by supporters.

The now twice-yearly hospital visits see members of the first team squad deliver selection boxes and toys at Christmas and Easter Eggs at Easter to children who find themselves having to stay in hospital during these festive periods.

It is only through the generosity of Notts County supporters and the organisation of both Notts fan Rob Bristol and Community Liaison Officer Matthew Lawson that these trips are able to take place and bring joy to poorly children at key times in the year.

“The Club has delivered another fantastic selection box appeal, spending time with people less fortunate than ourselves,” explained Lawson.

“The whole Club can be very proud and in particular our supporter who runs the hospitals project, Rob Bristol, deserves huge credit for his work. From a diet point of view we had to be careful with the chocolate on the diabetes wards, but the players, who were excellent throughout, just about managed it!”

This year’s Christmas trip was particularly well received and a bumper haul of selection boxes and toys were delivered by Shaun Derry and his players on Monday afternoon.

Notts County would like to thank Rob Bristol and everyone who donated selection boxes as part of the appeal, as they have helped bring happiness to a large number of children who are facing Christmas in hospital this year.

We would also like to thank the hospital staff at the QMC for the tireless work that they do in our community and wish them all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
