Halsall: The Lads Worked Their Socks Off Against Lincoln City

16 February 2015

The Notts County Youth Team beat Lincoln City 1-0...

The Magpies grabbed a very late winner through substitute Jack McMillan.

Head of Academy Coaching Mick Halsall believed it was a deserved win after Notts dominated most of the game.

He told the Official Site: "We eventually got the goal and it was a very pleasing three points.

"We dominated large spells of possession on a not very good pitch, which made it difficult for both sides.

"It was a really competitive game, with chances for both sides, and we moved the ball really well.

"We took risks from the back, to play the ball out, which we want the lads to do to help them develop.

"We kept going and we got a deserved winner late on with a fantastic strike."

Saturday's game was also a first 90-minutes for over a month and Halsall praised his sides fitness.

He added: "The fitness levels were great and that's credit to the coaches and the physics we have working we have here.

"Paul (Hart) and myself have been in the game a long time, so we know how to look after the condition of these players. They've worked hard for the past four weeks and they were all strong, quick and fresh.

"They worked their socks off and I'm delighted with the win."
