Notts County Land Double Nomination At Football Business Awards

22 September 2014

Notts County have been shortlisted for two awards at the prestigious Football Business Awards...

Notts County are delighted to announce that the club have been named as finalists in two categories at the 2014 Football Business Awards, which takes place at Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea FC on Thursday 6 November.

The prestigious awards ceremony, currently in its third year, brings together the very best of UK football to recognise those that have had a significant impact on the beautiful game. With attention so often focused on the pitch, the awards give the industry’s off-pitch stars the recognition they deserve.

Selected as one of only eight finalists in the ‘Best Marketing Campaign’ category, Notts County’s season ticket initiative ‘The Bench’ is the only entrant from outside the top two divisions of English football to have made the shortlist.

The club’s entry will be judged alongside those of Aston Villa, Fulham, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Queens Park Rangers, and Sunderland for the coveted prize.

The Bench program is also the only non Premier League or Championship entry to have been named as a finalist in the ‘Best Fan Engagement’ category at the awards. Notts will compete with Brighton & Hove Albion, Everton, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Manchester City, Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur for that prize.

Notts County’s Commercial Director Damian Irvine said of the double nomination: "I'm really happy for the club and supporters to be recognised among such elite organisations.

"Ideas and campaigns are only as good as the delivery and support they receive. The professionalism of our Media and Front Office Teams and support, belief and buy-in from our management and football operations department, have combined with the willingness of our loyal fans to support new initiatives, and created a season ticket program we are all very proud of.

"Technology is brilliant and a magnificent tool in communicating and improving service to our supporters, but to have a program recognised so prestigiously that is based on traditional inclusion, club spirit and sincere equality and engagement is really pleasing."

Rory Ross Russell, Co-Founder of the Football Business Awards, said: "For the third year in a row the quality and quantity of the entries has gone up and up. The continued enthusiasm within the sector for these awards is fantastic as it highlights just how highly valued they are.

"Business has such a vital role to play in football and a role which often goes unseen within the game’s wider community. We aim to give this inspirational work the valuable market badge it deserves."
