Halsall: Defensive Mistakes Costing Us

16 March 2015

The Magpies took the lead, but couldn’t beat the local rivals on Saturday...

Notts were looking for revenge from the previous week’s defeat and had the perfect start at Arnold Town, when forward Kieran Blaney but the Magpies ahead.

However three defensive mistakes before the interval were costly as Chesterfield went into the break 3-1 to the good.

Head of Academy Coaching Mick Halsall told The Official Site:“We thought we played some good football again, the game started competitively, with both sides looking a threat to each other, but we managed it really well.

“We worked our way into the game and played some good football, which is what we are doing with all the teams in the Academy, so it was pleasing to see them move the ball the way we want them to move it.

“We go a goal in front from Kieran Blaney and it was just a matter of keeping organised.

“We weren’t under any problems, but then we had a five minute spell where we just made three poor mistakes and it cost us, going in at 1-3 at the break.

“To be fair to them, they could have got another, but we were disappointed we didn’t carve much in the second half.

“In the end it was a scoreline that is disappointing to us all.”
