Noble: "It'll Be Another Hard Game"

29 September 2015

Notts hit the road for their fixture at Dagenham and Redbridge this evening and midfielder Liam Noble is feeling confident following the weekend's victory over York City.

"It'll be another hard game, but I think the lads will all be confident going into the match," he said.

"We had a good start at the weekend and we could have scored two or three in the first ten minutes. We need to put chances away and put teams to bed earlier - they'll always get opportunities against you.

"It was a tense last fifteen minutes on Saturday but we were fortunate and kept a clean sheet."

Manager Ricardo Moniz went for an experienced line-up on Saturday afternoon, keeping faith in Mike Edwards and Alan Smith for their leadership - a move which paid dividends as Notts recorded their first clean sheet since the opening day of the season.

Noble said: "We must have been good to watch as we were playing some really good football. It always helps having Mike at the back and Alan alongside me, because they're always talking you through the game."

And with a run of three consecutive defeats away from home in the league for County hampering their league position, there's an even greater desire for the team to pick up a win on the road.

"I really don't know why results haven't been as good away from home," the midfielder admitted. "I think we just need to start the game off like we did on Saturday and get an early goal.

"As long as we don't concede in the first fifteen minutes and build ourselves into the game, we can take it from there.

"It's hard to play out the back and play the way we want to away from home - the home team want to dictate the game, but so do we. It'll be another hard game for us."

Having already netted five times this season, Noble is relishing the freedom he has in the current team but is putting results before personal achievements.

"With Alan in a more defensive role and Stanley [Aborah] playing behind like he has been, it gives me a license to get up in the centre with Izale - of course, you've always got Alan shouting you back if you're switching off.

"Izale is quick and you fancy him for one on one's with the keeper - his movement is fantastic it makes our job easier - we just need to find his run.

"I'm pleased with my goal tally but we just need to keep picking up points. If I can keep on chipping in with a few goals along the way that's brilliant. As long as it hits the net I'm not really bothered how it goes in!"
