Nicky Wroe Can Be A Big Player For Notts County

7 July 2014

Nicky Wroe can be a key player in the Notts County engine room this season, says manager Shaun Derry.

Wroe was brought to Meadow Lane this summer following his departure from Preston North End to add quality and goals to the County midfield.

Derry sees the 28-year-old as an important part of his squad and is excited to see what he can deliver in his prime years.

“I know what I was like when I was a 28-year-old, I just felt that I was right on top of my game and that’s the stage that I think Nicky’s at,” he told Magpie Player.

“I want him to come in and be a big player for us and that’s why I’ve given him the number eight shirt.

“I want him to be that type of player that joins in and gets his goals from midfield.

“We didn’t get too many goals from midfield last year and I want that to change this year.”

Notts are in pre-season action for the first time on Wednesday evening against Arnold Town at the Eagle Valley Stadium (7.30pm kick-off).
